This vinyl is cut into long planks called luxury vinyl plank flooring. Alternatively, it is also cut into square, tile-sized pieces.
About vinyl plank and tile
When the vinyl is cut into strips and mounted on boards, it resembles a hardwood floorboard. When cut into tile-sized pieces, it resembles a stone or tile.
However, it's important to note that you're not limited to how to use a format. For example, some people prefer plank for stone slab or large format tile mimics. Others might use the squares for wood, especially to echo the current wood look tile craze.
Since luxury vinyl tile and plank are taken with high definition photography characteristics, such as knots, swirls, and growth rings, veining variations and natural imperfections are seen. There is also micro beveling and embossing for depth and dimension.
Textured looks, such as the rustic-oriented wire-brushed, hand-scraped and distressed, are readily available. There's also a variety of finishes.
